Everything was great! Such a fun atmosphere, very welcoming. The good was so yummy. I really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and Caesar Chicken wrap. The fries were crunchy and salty with a hint of char. We didn't care for the bacun much, too dry for what we were expecting. Friendly staff. We ordered from the road for pickup and I definitely wished we had time to stay and enjoy it more. I also got a giant chocolate chip cookie with was crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle and had a great flavor.

The Smokin’ Onion is an absolutely fantastic vegan restaurant and food truck. The service is unbelievably amazing, the people always find a way to help and are so patient. I can’t even start on how amazing their Fries are. There crispy, fresh, oily, and genuinely the most delicious fries I’ve ever had. The vibe is amazing, It’s chill, with lots of plants and music. Theres animal and flower pictures everywhere with adorable “besties” pictures of baby animals. The food is 5 star level for picky eaters and all ages. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this to everyone.

Ok so my husband and I tried this place through their food truck at New Belgium on a Tuesday. My husband loves gyros so he got that, I got a chicken sandwich and buffalo cauliflower wings, we also got a side of brussel sprouts to try. We had no idea this was a vegan food truck, I don’t mind, my husband though, yeah you won’t catch him eating a bean patty or any what he calls “fake” stuff. So, we ate lunch, I thought it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had, he said it was hands down “THE NUMBER ONE GYRO IVE EVER HAD” and the buffalo cauli wings, best I’ve ever had, such a perfect thin crunch and the sauce is tangy, not too thick, not greasy feeling at all. The brussel sprouts, BOMB, and their portions are huge. Anyway, fast forward to two weeks later when we can’t stop thinking about this meal again so we go to the restaurant realizing EVERYTHING is vegan. My husband was pretty surprised and said he must have been starving or something because that gyro was too legit, so we sat down, re ordered everything again except the cauli wings because they only serve those at the truck. Halfway through the gyro and my chicken Sammy, we both knew, they were still epic, he says

Took the family to enjoy lunch. We chose The Smokin’ Onion because of their vegan/vegetarian options. There were five of us so we took our time choosing which items to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Two of us enjoyed the chicken and waffles; two had the French toast and the last enjoyed the chimichanga. Everything was delicious. We enjoyed the meal and would recommend it to everyone.

Best food (vegan or not) I’ve ever had. My bf and I came to Asheville for a birthday weekend trip and we were looking for a vegan spot we hadn’t tried yet (we usually eat at Rosetta’s - another forever favorite). We grabbed dinner on our first night and loved it so much that we came back for breakfast on our last morning before heading back home. Our new favorite Asheville spot! We will be back again and again!
